Every summer since 1916, Nathan’s Famous in Coney Island has held a hot dog eating contest. According to our friends over at The Huffington Post, the tradition will continue this year on July 4th. In 2013 Joey Chestnut set a record by eating an incredible 69 hot dogs in 10 minutes. I can hardly eat 4 hot dogs in 10 minutes-so how does he do it? There are a number of hot dog eating techniques, which include breaking the dogs in half, jumping up and down, moving side to side, and soaking the buns in water.
