N.W.A. Straight Outta Compton Cast

Heres’ the first official cast picture for the upcoming N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton–and we got to say that the producers sure nailed the recreation of the original band. We originally thought it was kind of a joke when Ice Cube’s kid O’Shea Jackson Jr. was cast to play his dad, but now we’re thinking that he was the only natural choice. It’s pretty much obvious that’s the younger version of Ice Cube up front and at the far left, and then you have Jason Mitchell as Eazy-E and Corey Hawkins as Dr. Dre.

That’s pretty uncanny casting with Dr. Dre, too, as you can see by the real-life Dr. Dre standing behind him. That’s director F. Gary Gray behind Jason Mitchell, since Easy-E passed away from AIDS back in 1995. And here’s the official summary on the movie, which skips all of the threats of violence when N.W.A. went through what remains the most bitter breakup in the history of rap…

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.

And this is what that war sounded like–and, yeah, this looks like the cast to recreate it…
