Crystal Renn celebrates her 28th birthday today–that being June 18th, 2014–as the Amazing Shrinking Supermodel. The busty brunette has become a big deal to both lovers of traditional beauties and curvier girls over the course of her amazing career. Her entire saga, in fact, is offbeat enough that we’re surprised that Lifetime hasn’t filmed The Crystal Renn Story.   [photo via...]

The roller coaster ride starts with Crystal as a young Mississippi gal being told that she has to lose weight to be a model. She does, and goes on to fame and fortune and anorexia. Crystal Renn is the kind of gal who controls her own destiny, though, and she then decides to ditch the diet and finds fame as a plus-size model. That includes a book called Hungry: A Young Model’s Story of Appetite, Ambition and the Ultimate Embrace of Curves.

But then Crystal decided to reinvent herself again, and lost plenty of weight in 2010. That brought her some feminist detractors, but also brought Crystal back to the catwalk for major designers like Zac Posen, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel, Jean Paul Gautier, Jimmy Choo, and more. And is Crystal Renn a Sports Illustrated Swimwear Model? Yes, she is.

Crystal has really kind of kept her curves, too. She’s a more traditional babe nowadays, but Crystal can also still sell plus-size jeans collection. Nothing wrong with that. We’re sure fond of all kinds of gals here at COED, so we’re always happy to celebrate the occasional big gal having a very big career–and we should add that Crystal probably really did write her own book, considering that she’s gone on to do some ace fashion reporting. Check out these pics, though, and you’ll join us in hoping Crystal stays in front of the camera…
