A Restaurant In DC Is Serving Bugs For Lunch

Washington D.C. eating bugs

To celebrate over 85 years in business, J.C. Ehrlich, a worldwide pest management company, will be hosting “Pestaurant on Pennsy,” today where they’ll be serving up bugs for lunch. 13 restaurants will become “pestaurants” today in the hilarious PR stunt, but only one in America-that being  the Occidental Grill in our Nation’s capital. Why are they doing this? Well, The goal is to “promote the health benefits of an insect rich diet already enjoyed by billions across the globe.”

Does this sound gross to you? Yeah, us too. If eating bugs just isn’t enough–well, you’re encouraged to take “pest selfies,”  as well. Yeah, the word “selfie” just died all over again. “In addition to sampling the edible insects, visitors can take pest selfies, compete in a cricket eating contest and vote for DC’s worst pest. The event is free and a number of professionally trained Ehrlich experts will be on hand to discuss the edible pests being served, answer any pest questions from members of the public and to pass on their ‘top tips’ for avoiding pest problems.”

If you’re not in DC but want to enjoy bugs, we suggest going to your nearest park and having a picnic.
