Chad Johnson–or Chad Ochocinco, as he used to be called–isn’t ready to hang up the cleats just yet. The former NFL star has signed to play for the Montreal Alouettes of the Canadian Football League for the 2014 season. He had some issues getting a work permit to report to Montreal, but that’s all been worked out and he’s now reported to camp.
Johnson goes to a CFL that has an 18-game schedule, and begins preseason play on June 9th. Johnson’s first game for Montreal is on June 14th before his home debut on June 20th. The home opener will come on July 4th. Johnson is going to bring excitement to Montreal one way or another. And it’s looking like Johnson just wants to play football these days, instead of causing plenty of drama. Maybe he’ll even get to pretend to putt a football with an end zone stake.
