Geek Pride Day: 42 Lara Crofts Fly Their Cleavage High [PICS]

‚ By

There was probably a time when Geek Pride Day actually united outcasts. Today, of course, geeks are everywhere. They’re helping to make X-Men: Days of Future Past the #1 movie in the nation, and they’ve also assembled to put Godzilla at #2 while keeping Amazing Spider-Man 2 in the Top Five. Captain America: The Winter Soldier finally dropped out of the Top Ten, but that was inevitable.

Anyway, geeks pretty much run things now, and that’s fine with us. We don’t even mind the occasional discussion about Doctor Who. That’s actually a reminder that May 25 began to be celebrated as Geek Pride Day by fans of Douglas Adams–who won over plenty of geeky guys (and gals) with his Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy book series. It’s a little weird that HBO isn’t showing a new Game of Thrones for Geek Pride Day, but there is another special anniversary that we’ll be celebrating later today.

For now, though, let’s salute the geeks who managed to keep cosplay as their own little secret for a few decades. We know that stripped weren’t showing up at comic-book conventions as much back in the late ’80s, but the 1990s began to see hot babes stealing the show at assorted cons with very hot outfits. Lara Croft of Tomb Raider sure inspired a lot of geek gaming girls, and that’s the kind of inspiration that we have to respect.

We’re thinking that a lot of folks have forgotten than Angelina Jolie starred as Lara Croft in two Tomb Raider films. She looked like this…

But nowadays, more people associate a real-life Lara Croft as assorted cosplay gals. There’s good reason for that, too–and that’s a real Triumph of the Geeks. We’re going to get geeky at least one more time today ourselves. For now, though, let’s get all manly and be thankful for geeks as we check out these inspired gals…
