This weekend is the Indianapolis 500, an event that’s right up there as one of the single greatest people watching events in the world. I’d say it goes (in order) Indy 500, Burning Man, and then Black Bike Week. Funny how all three of those events take place in America…
My favorite part about the crowd at the Indy 500 is that they’re not coming out of the woodwork–these people really exist in middle America. They’re just living life as they see fit and giving zero f*cks. How else can you explain a fat man in a thong drinking beers and wearing a trucker hat? You can’t and you shouldn’t.
Since the Indy 500 coincides with Memorial Day Weekend, I’m guessing that we’re going to see a lot of people shaving American flags into their chest hair. The stadium will host over 300,000 people (c’mon that’s impressive), so my guess is that there will be no less than 500 people with Old Glory in their hair. Remember where you heard it first. By the way, if you like ‘Merican photos like that make sure to check out our definitive list of the 50 Most American photos ever taken.
Amid all these rednecks celebrating their favorite holiday (the race, not Memorial Day) there will be a lot of college and high school EDM heads who will be attending the “Snake Pit” infield concert consisting of Nervo, Hardwell, and Dillon Francis. If drunk rednecks and knock off Wayfarer-wearing bros isn’t a recipe for success, I don’t know what is.
