Godzilla proved that he was going to be taking the top spot and staying there. The movie raked in $93.2 million over the weekend, crushing every other movie in the box office by a long run. We’re sure that in its first month, this movie is going to be breaking all sorts of records, especially once the worldwide ticket sales are factored in.

The best part, though? A sequel is already in the works, which is great to hear. Perhaps we’ll have a Godzilla trilogy on our hands. Which is fine with us, because we already spent this weekend pondering over more monsters for Godzilla to fight at the multiplexes.

And with Godzilla sitting at 73% on Rotten Tomatoes, it seems that both critics and audiences alike are generally really liking the flick, especially compared to the measly 53% on the new Spiderman. Re-boots will always bring in the cash–but with critics, it’s a real toss up.

If you haven’t made your way out to see this awesome movie yet, we highly recommend it. Before you go make sure to check out our list of 10 things you should know about the movie and re-watch the trailer to get excited below.
