Miley Cyrus is certainly always full of surprises, and this time she’s proven once again that you just can’t put Miley in the corner. People knew that had Miley teamed up with psychedelic rockers The Flaming Lips to cover The Beatles’ iconic classic “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” at Manchester’s Phones4u Arena in England–but now the recorded track will be on The Flaming Lips’s Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band tribute album With A Little Help From My Fwends. The album drops on October 28th, but you can pre-order on May 18th to receive an instant download of the Miley/Lips collaboration.

It might seem a little odd that the Flaming Lips teamed up with Miley, but not when you consider that a portion of the proceeds from the tribute album will be going to the Bella Foundation. That’s an organization that assists low-income pet owners in Oklahoma City. Miley is, of course, a huge advocate for animal rights. Also–and we’re just guessing here–it’s entirely possible that Miley and The Flaming Lips both share a huge love for the ganja.  That can definitely make for some strange bedfellows.

The “Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds” live performance was taped to air on the Billboard Music Awards this Sunday. For now, check out the video below. It’s a bit blurry, but still an interesting take on the classic song. It appears that the pop star kept her twerking to a minimum during the performance, too…
