After we saw Florida State’s Jameis Winston was suspended from the school’s baseball team, a lot of people thought it wouldn’t be long before he returned to the pitcher’s mound. That happened Sunday after he’d finished his 20 hours of community service–in the wake of that recent citation for walking out of a supermarket without paying for crab legs and crawfish.
Winston will now try to help the Seminoles get a national championship. That would be his second of the school year, since he’s already helped lead a win to the national championship in football. Hopefully, Winston will also stay busy being more careful off the field. His NFL draft stock is going to fall if he continues to have incidents like this one. The guy probably doesn’t want to turn into Johnny Manziel with off-season distractions. Hopefully, he’ll keep his nose clean through the rest of the baseball season and through next year’s football campaign. If he can manage that, then Winston is likely going to find himself at the No. 1 pick in the 2015 draft.
