The 2014 college football season is going to see the first-ever playoff. This week, commissioners at the College Football Playoff meetings are discussing a template for the selection process and how the teams will be selected. It is something that every team and fan should be watching for very carefully.
Will strength of schedule be a big factor? Where will the 1-4 and 2-3 matchups be played between the Rose Bowl and the Sugar Bowl? The committee is obviously looking at not putting a higher seed at a disadvantage if the lower seed would have basically a home game. These are things that need to be figured out sooner than later and well before the new season begins.
The playoff idea is a great one and more fans will be tuning in than ever when the playoff begins on New Year’s Day–but the structure has been set before any other plans are made. It sounds like those plans will be all figured out this week.
