Kate Upton In “The Other Woman”: 10 Things Guys Need To Know

‚ By

The Other Woman hits theaters today as the rare Official Chick Flick that also has a good chance of bringing in the guys. That’s partly because The Other Woman is a weird hybrid of a romantic comedy, a feminist revenge film, and a gross-out movie that should appeal to guys. There’s also the added crossover appeal of Kate Upton in her big-screen debut–and she really holds her own against Cameron Diaz and Leslie Mann as three women out to get revenge on Mann’s cheating spouse. There are a few scenes where Kate’s the most natural actress on the screen.

But we know that a movie like The Other Woman is still strange territory for plenty of male moviegoers. We’ve been there, people–so here are a few things to help prepare guys before they hit the box-office on what might very well be a date night. We’re also hoping that some of the images below will keep you from gawking too much at the screen in front of your girlfriend, which could be bad form. And speaking of great forms, let’s get started now…

1) You get about 50 minutes in the movie before Kate Upton makes her first appearance–but that’s okay, because it’s the beach scene where she’s doing this…

2) Nicki Minaj is playing Cameron Diaz’s secretary, and it’s the same role that Fran Drescher would’ve played back in the ’80s–which kind of makes sense…

3) Don Johnson plays Cameron Diaz’s father, and that’s perfectly realistic if you consider the difference in their ages. It’ll still make some people feel very old…

4) The Other Woman takes place in a world where a really smart guy who’s secretly cheating on his wife still thinks nothing of giving his home address to a woman that he’s dating who doesn’t even know the guy is married

5) Edith Piaf was a really famous French torch singer who sang lots of lonely ballads back in the ’40s and ’50s. You’ll want to know that when she keeps coming up as a reference in a comedy that’s otherwise mainstream enough to close with Lordes’ “Royals” as a feel-good tune…

6) There’s also a Fight Club reference amongst all the Chick Flick action, which’ll leave you feeling like this guy….

7) The Other Woman takes place in a world where a hot older gal like Leslie Mann is still afraid of dating, and can’t seem to wrap her head around the idea of taking 50% of her rich husband’s money in a clear-cut case for divorce…

8) Nikolaj Coster-Waldau is really cool in Game of Thrones, but he’s mainly cast as Leslie Mann’s cheating husband because Denis Leary is now too old for the role…

9) Kate Upton is described in the script as “a cliché version of every wife’s wicked nightmare,” which is accurate, because that beach scene also includes all this action…

10) The movie’s closing line is, “Next time, call a plumber.” We’re still trying to figure out what that means…
