A group of filmmakers with a hell of a lot of patience, cardboard and time on their hands did a shot-for-shot remake of the Godzilla movie trailer.
This time, they turned their attention for detail to the new Godzilla movie starring Bryan Cranston that’s been plastered all over the Internet as the first big popcorn flick of the upcoming summer movie season. It’s also on our list of 2014’s “Most Anticipated Movies.” We may be excited to see it to but frankly, we’re getting sick of the studio teasing us with trailer after trailer after trailer. This may be the same as the official trailer but at least we know it’s not another damn trailer released by the studio just to tease us and make us wish that time wasn’t a long, slow, straight line.
The Homemade Movies group has done homemade remakes of classic movie scenes and trailers such as The Avengers, Jurassic Park and the Iron Man movies. They have a real knack for treating the movies they remake with a reverent sort of irreverence. They never stray from the original source material even though they have a much more limited budget than the big studios and less access to big budget special effects equipment. They really know how to make something interesting and unique with just a couple of cardboard cutouts and some amateur pyrotechnics. If anything, this remake is 10 times more interesting than the last time Hollywood tried to bring Godzilla back to the big screen.
