Well…the U.S. Treasury’s Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau has just approved “powdered alcohol.” So, instead of throwing back shots of the normal, run of the mill stuff, you may soon be able to mix in powdered alcohol like it’s Kool Aid.

The alcohol powder is called “Palcohol” (very clever, guys) and it includes vodka and rum powders. Users can add five ounces of water or any other liquid to the powder and make an alcoholic drink. Who do we have to thank for this? Some guy named Mark Phillips. He describes himself as an active guy. After hours of an activity, he said he likes to relax and enjoy a beverage but does not want to have to carry the liquid beverage with him.

As cool as this idea sounds, it also seems like it’s going to be hell for bars, concert venues and pretty much any other place that serves actual alcohol. If people can easily sneak in this powdered stuff, they really won’t need to be ordering drinks at the bar. Nothing but cups of water all night for everyone…not just the designated driver.
