It’s well-known that San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich isn’t a fan of the sideline interview during his team’s games. Popovich showed some surprising humility on Sunday, however. The special occasion was Popovich getting called over by Craig Sager Jr., who was filling in for his sportscaster father who’s undergoin treatment for leukemia. Check it out as Popovich looks right into the camera and says,“We want your fanny back on the court, and I promise I’ll be nice.”

There’s a historic moment. Popovich is one of the best coaches in the NBA, but hates when reporters want to talk to him during the game. This was a rare sentimental moment–and with Sager Jr. coming in from Atlanta, so the guy had pretty good reason to be nervous about approaching the legendarily cranky Popovich. So enjoy this old-fashioned display of a lovable moment straight out of a feel-good sports movie. We still don’t recommend bothering Popovich during a game.
