It’s been a rough past 105 years for the Chicago Cubs, with the team not winning a World Series title since 1908. Now the Cub haves hit yet another new low. Wednesday’s doubleheader against the New York Yankees saw the Cubs getting shut out in both ends of a twin bill for the first time in 52 years. Furthermore, the Cubs have never beaten the Yankees at Yankee Stadium in any of their nine all-time meetings in the Bronx. And the Cubs also became the first team since 1988 to get blanked in both games of a doubleheader.
There are many things that the Cubs are known for, and losing is usually at the top of the list. This should be a wakeup call to the entire organization that they need to bring their young prospects to the major league level. Give the fans something to cheer for instead of leaving them wondering what embarrassment will happen next.
