It seems like just yesterday that we were all complaining about True Detective crashing HBOGo. Now it looks like it’s going to be a regular occurrence–because, verily, it happened again last night with the season premiere of Game of Thrones.
At least HBO Go’s Twitter account hopped on the issue quickly. Their first Tweet read, “Looks like there’s trouble in the realm. Apologies for the inconvenience. We’ll be providing updates, so please stay tuned. #GameOfThrones.” Then it seems like whoever was running the account decided to have a little more fun with the second Tweet: “Having trouble accessing HBO Go? Send a raven. Game Of Thrones available soon on HBO On Demand with some cable providers.”
So the main thing to learn from this is the importance of HBOGo. It’s about time that HBO actually looks at the facts: there are a lot more people using HBOGo than actually subscribing to HBO. Why not make a completely separate account for HBOGo users, like a Netflix or a Hulu Plus account? Also–on days when huge premieres or finales are happening–be prepared! The Internet will always be here to complain, HBO. Step your game up before we sic Hodor on you.
