Captain America: The Winter Soldier raked in $96.2 million dollars in America and had a worldwide total of $303.3 million–making it the biggest April opening ever. And easily one of the most impressive superhero movies openings, in general. Noah managed to hold steady at second place, and  Divergent is still doing well at the #3 position. We have no doubt that Captain America will continue to rake in the cash for at least the rest of the month. It’s still about to be blockbuster season, and this was only a slight taste of what’s to come. There’s even a big Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles flick coming up, along many other new movies that we’ve been waiting for.

Now we’ll see if Captain America: The Winter Soldier will go from being the biggest superhero movie of Spring to make it as the biggest superhero movie of Summer. There’s still the new X-Men: Days of Future Past about to happen, and that one seems set for enough critical acclaim to bring in the same wide audience that the new Captain America scored. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 also seems to have inspired new interest from folks who sat out the first reboot. $303.3 million is still a super box-office that makes for serious competition.
