See Her Tonight
Leah Gibson on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland
(8:00 PM EST, ABC)
It’s a sad day for the See Her Tonight column as we say farewell to ABC’s Once Upon a Time in Wonderland–which gave us wonderful weekly looks at Emma Rigby and Peta Sergeant. We were also just settling into weekly visits with Leah Gibson, who played a water nymph called Nyx. Coincidentally enough, that character’s name is also what the ABC executives said when it came time to renew Once Upon a Time in Wonderland for another season.
Anyway, we don’t think Leah Gibson was some kind of death curse for the show. And if she was, point us to the gypsy who can cast that kind of curse on us. We first became fans of this Canadian gal back when she showed up in the big-screen Watchmen as one of our favorite characters in the movie. Or she would’ve been, if Leah Gibson had gotten more screen time as the lesbian lover of the sultry superheroine known as Silhouette.
That was still enough for us to remember Leah’s name, and we weren’t too surprised when she showed up on the sci-fi show Caprica and an episode of Supernatural. Any hot actress in Canada automatically becomes a genre star. Leah made it to American multiplexes in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse–but we’ll admit that she got past us as an anonymous partying gal in Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
We caught Leah in Arctic Air, though, which is a Canadian show that’s featured lots of lovely ladies of the Great White North. We doubt that it’ll be difficult to keep seeing more of Leah on the big and small screens, too–but for now, let’s see her here and mourn the (temporary) end of Leah in our living rooms…
