The Philadelphia 76ers turned into one of the worst teams in the NBA this season shortly after the New Year began. Now the 76ers hit a new low on Thursday night when they lost their 26th straight game to tie the NBA record for most consecutive losses in a 120-98 defeat to the Houston Rockets. Philadelphia can break the record on Saturday night at home against the Detroit Pistons.
It has become painfully obvious that the 76ers are hoping to score the No. 1 pick in June’s NBA Draft. The only way that is going to happen though is if they win the draft lottery. The worst that could happen is that they get the No. 4 overall pick. However, teams shouldn’t be trying to lose all the time just to improve their lottery ball chances. Philadelphia started the season 3-0 but has gone 12-57 since then.
There is hope ahead when first round pick from this season Nerlens Noel returns next season and when a new young player is added to a team. For this season though, fans in Philly may see their team finish the season losing 36 straight games if the 76ers can’t score a win in one of their final ten games.
