If you thought there were a lot of comic book movies in the theaters these days, just wait until you see what Marvel Studios has in store for the superhero crowds in the coming years. [Image via Sam Howzit/Flickr]
20th Century Fox released a four year schedule of movie releases based on Marvel Comics’ most iconic and recognizable comic book characters and series. They include a handful of franchises that we’re all intimately familiar with by now and a bunch of untitled mystery movies, possibly for new characters who have yet to get the big screen treatment.
The list includes four confirmed characters or comic book franchises getting a new movie including X-Men: Days of Future Past on May 23rd, another Fantastic Four reboot on June 19th, 2015, the first new Wolverine movie that may not have Hugh Jackman in the title role on March 3rd, 2017 and a second Fantastic Four movie on July 14th, 2017. The new Fantastic Four cast includes House of Cards’ Kate Mara as Sue Storm, Michael B. Jordan as the Human Torch, Jamie Bell as The Thing and Miles Teller as Mr. Fantastic. The list also included three unidentified movies including one directed by Blade Runner and Alien director Ridley Scott set for release on March 4th, 2016 and an “untitled Marvel movie” on July 13th, 2018.
We’re glad to see so many comic book and superhero movies in development by having a scheduled planned out for the next four years just sounds like an insane concept. Sure, movies like these are guaranteed to bring in crowds and a decent bank but you still never really know what’s going to be popular or earn an express trip to the dollar DVD bin at Wal-Mart.
