The item appeared on the auction website BidAMI.com and they claim it is the same expensive pair of Maui Jim sunglasses that Walker was wearing on the day of the car accident that killed him back in November of 2013. The site claims that the man on the scene of the accident was there “for information and assistance with officers and reporters” and was walking around the site of the crash scene after officers cleared it for the public. He found the sunglasses in a patch of ivy near the scene of the crash but didn’t find out they belonged to Walker until the following day when he saw Walker wearing them in photos and videos of the actor posted by news outlets just moments before his fatal crash.
The highest bidder of the auction will not only receive the scarred and scuffed sunglasses but also pieces of debris from the crash site and a fire extinguisher used to snuff out the flames of the wreck. The site said that a portion of the proceeds from the auction will go to SavingAmericasMustangs.org, a non-profit dedicated to the preservation of wild horses.
Even though some of the money is going to a noble cause, it still feels very wrong. They at least should have dedicated the money to Walker’s personal charity Reach Out Worldwide as an acknowledgement to just how wrong it is so they could make some amends for it.
