Tonight at 9pm Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey starring Neil deGrasse Tyson will premiere on Fox and The National Geographic Channel. The show will be a 13-part series and is modeled after the hit 1980 series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage starring Carl Sagan. The show will teach viewers about the universe and show just how small a place humans inhabit relative to all of space and time.
That’s pretty heavy stuff, but hopefully this show will popularize genuine science the way the original Cosmos did in the 1980s. Since airing, the original has been watched by over 400 million people in 60 different countries. If anyone is up to this task, it’s Neil deGrasse Tyson. He’s as funny and charming as he is smart, and you have to be pretty smart to be an astrophysicist and director of the Hayden Planetarium.
