It took nine years, but the sequel to the wildly successful Sin City is finally almost here. Today, the trailer dropped and we couldn’t be more excited for when the film comes out on August 22.
Sin City: A Dame To Kill For features many of the same actors as the original, including Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke and Jessica Alba. (Two of those actors died in the first Sin City, but worry about that later.) Some newcomers include Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Brolin and more. Gordon-Levitt plays a gambler named Johnny who’s caught in a high stakes game of life and death. Eva Green is a femme fatale entangled with Dwight–who’s once again played by Clive Owen. (He didn’t die in the first movie.)
The new Sin City returns to the hyper-realized noir world based on Frank Miller’s novels. Once again, Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller will be directing. The only notable missing person from the directing and producing side is Quentin Tarantino–who’s probably been busy writing scripts and then immediately scrapping them.
With this and 300: Rise of an Empire out tomorrow (both on our list of Most Anticipated Movies 2014), this is a great year for super belated sequels based on Frank Miller graphic novels–so get reacquainted with Sin City right now…
