We’ve been anticipating the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue since–well, since the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue hit the stands. Even then, we knew that 2014 would be a very special year as the 50th anniversary of the phenomenally popular publication. Sports Illustrated has really gotten our interest over the past several days, though, as their website debuted all of the new rookies making their Swimsuit Issue debut this year.
You can be a big name in modeling for a few years before finally making it into a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. This 50th Anniversary edition is giving the SI executives a really good reason to catch up on plenty of amazing beauties. We’re talking about gals ranging from established names to the hottest new faces in the modeling biz. Catch up with them now, because you’ll want to be warmed up when the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue hits the street tomorrow…
This 22-year-old beauty came out of the Dominican Republic and began modeling out of New York City in 2011. Things have worked out nicely from there. The 5’9″ beauty quickly caught the attention of the Victoria’s Secret line–which means that Cris quickly caught our own attention–and now it’s going to be harder than ever to keep her our little secret.
Dutch fashion model Valerie van der Graaf generated plenty of interest from us when she hit the runways as an 18-year-old newcomer with a lot of hype behind her. That was about four years ago, and it’s been kind of a shock to see how much Valeria has grown up (and out) since then. She’s now a proper blonde bombshell with the kind of curves that make her perfect for Sports Illustrated.
This has been a pretty amazing year for Sports Illustrated rookies–mostly because ladies like Lily Aldridge remind us that you can be a supermodel without posing for the SI Swimsuit Issue. Lily’s making a very impressive debut, though, as she lands on the cover of this year’s edition with Nina Agdal and Chrissy Tiegen. That also puts Lily on the front line of promoting the issue, and we’re really enjoying following those travels.
This 23-year-old from Pennsylvania might be the most rookiest of all the SI rookies, but we think Samantha Hoopes is about to become a very big name–especially now that guys are getting to see her amazing 34-24-34 bod in all its glory. Get in on the ground floor, because this is a gal whose stock is about to skyrocket.
You could say that Lauren Mellor is a late bloomer as a 29-year-old rookie, but that’s just another sign of the SI Swimsuit Issue clout–because this South African gal has been a major figure on the runways since 2006.
This striking blondes from the Netherlands is having a great year, with Marloes Horst having just entered the Top 40 ranks of top-earning models–and her showing in Sports Illustrated should have her jumping ahead a lot more notches.
This 21-year-old Texas native is a New York City girl now, and we’re pretty sure that Hannah Ferguson is going to get used to being one of Manhattan’s most striking models. We’re mainly just happy that she’s away from her family. Her dad was a military sniper, and we’re already dreading when she brings us home for Christmas.
Here’s another major name that a lot of guys probably assumed was a Sports Illustrated veteran. It didn’t seem likely that Emily Ratajkowski could have a better year than 2013 after breaking out big in Robin Thick’s “Blurred Lines” video–but this SI Swimsuit Issue pretty much keeps her winning big.
We weren’t really expecting an 18-year-old reality-show star to end up in this year’s Sports Illustrated–but if we had to guess, we would’ve told you that it had to be Gigi Hadid. Her mom is former model Yolanda Foster of The Real Housewives Of Beverly Hills, but it looks like Gigi is all set to be a star on her own.
This stunning Portugese beauty has been doing great work for Victoria’s Secret, and we’re not surprised to see Sara Sampaio livening up an SI Swimsuit Issue. We’re just surprised it didn’t happen earlier.
We’ve spent two years getting delirious over this Dutch model’s work for Victoria’s Secret, and now Bregje Heinen steps in to make this a stellar year for Sports Illustrated raiding our favorite lingerie ladies.
And here we have Sports Illustrated closing out their rookie announcements with a big bang, as Chanel Iman steps in as the final new face gracing the 2014 Swimsuit Issue. This 23-year-old beauty isn’t just another great American model–she’s also representing the American Southland as this Atlanta native makes for a very special 50th Anniversary Swimsuit Issue.
