According to our friends over at The Huffington Post, new airline pilots are among the lowest-paid workers in the country. Some regional pilots are earning as little as $15,000 per year, which is well below the poverty line. This information is exceptionally startling because of the cost of becoming a pilot in the first place. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, airline pilots usually need a Bachelor’s Degree, a pilot’s license, and certification that requires hundreds of hours of flight training. Perhaps this is why there is a shortage of pilots.
