Now don’t you tell us that you don’t remember Ned because he sure as heckfire remembers you! ! Ned! Ryerson! Needlenose Ned? Ned the Head? C’mon, buddy! Chase Western High! Ned Ryerson! He did the whistling bellybutton trick at the high school talent show! Ned Ryserson! Got the shingles real bad senior year, almost didn’t graduate? Ned Ryserson! He dated Phil Connor’s sister Mary Pat a couple times until Phil told him not to any more? Well?
Bing! Yeah, we figured Phil Connors name would remind you that Ned Ryerson is the annoying insurance agent constantly ruining Bill Murray’s recurring day in Groundhog Day. Ned’s played by Stephen Tobolowsky in one of the many roles that launched him into the industry as a beloved character actor, too. Tobolowsky’s also known as a great story teller, and his Reddit AMA is fairly legendary. Anyway, today was Groundhog Day, and Punxsutawney Phil says we’re having a long winter, but that doesn’t matter because Punxsutawney Phil doesn’t really have a very good record for accuracy.
Groundhog Day, however, has a great record for accurately always being an amazing comedy. It’s even being shown in a lot of theaters today–including about 20 in the New York City metropolitan area, so that’s a fun thing to do before the Super Bowl. We’re just going to enjoy this fine video of all of Ned Ryerson’s scenes in the 1993 comedy classic–including Ned’s happy ending. We’ve always wondered about how Phil felt about paying those insurance premiums later on, though. Are we right or are we right? Right? Right! Right! Rrrright!
