The promotion machine for X-Men: Days of Future Past is off to a big start, with the UK movie magazine Empire unveiling a bunch of new covers featuring the film–including some of our first looks at new characters. The magazine’s rolling out 25 “limited edition collector’s covers” featuring assorted mutants and bad guys–plus an additional one featuring director Bryan Singer, because he’s practically a super hero to fans of comic-book movies.
The new movie is setting itself up to be a “Who’s who” of the X-Men universe with a large cast of unique mutants gearing up for battle. So far, Empire has only released 12 of the 25 covers, but they haven’t been saving their A-listers for last. We’re already looking below at the covers featuring Hugh Jackson as Wolverine, James McAvoy as a young Charles Xavier, Evan Peters as (a pretty weird looking) Quicksilver, Michael Fassbender as Magneto, and the return of Beast played by Nicholas Hoult.
There are also some covers that show off the new villains the X-Men will have to battle. We get yet another take on military man William Stryker,” as well as his fellow mutant-hater Bolivar Trask. That’s the genius at robotics who’s played by Game of Thrones‘ Peter Dinklage–and his character creates the Sentinels, and it’s a real big deal to see them on an Empire cover.
Of course, the cover that most guys will care about is Jennifer Lawrence as the sultry and shape-shifting Mystique. Thankfully, Empire doesn’t leave much to the imagination with this one. We know what you’re thinking, and all we can say is “You’re welcome.” Now enjoy that sight and get your geek on…
