Sacramento Kings Become First Professional Sports Franchise to Accept Bitcoin

In case you aren’t familiar with Bitcoin, it is a form of digital currency in which users send and receive payments using a client software. Bitcoin has been around for about five years and currently holds a value of $820 per unit, however the value of Bitcoin can vary quite rapidly. According to our friends over at Extra Mustard, Sacramento Kings owner Vivek Ranadive told the NBA that he is trying to push the technology envelope. Since many people are still unfamiliar with Bitcoin and uncertain of its long-term viability, it will be interesting to see if this move will boost their attendance or force the Kings to move to a new city.
