It’s no coincidence that the first United States college fraternity was formed on December 5, 1776. It was a very special time in our nation’s history, as the United States began to claim its independence–and some bros at the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, declared, “Verily, let us party as free men who shall be hailed as Phi Beta Kappas!” That’s exactly how it happened, too, even though William & Mary might try to put some kind of better spin on it nowadays.

Anyway, now it’s time to celebrate the 237th anniversary of college fraternities in the United States. We’ve compiled a spirited 76 pics of wild parties and beautiful babes and unfortunate moments that some future Presidential candidate might someday regret.
