New “Amazing Spider-Man 2″ Villains Poster: What We’re Figuring Out…

‚ By

Yes, it’s a big day for Spider-Man fans–specifically, for the Spider-Man fans anxiously awaiting the upcoming first trailer for a movie that may not even have a proper title yet. Seriously, we might be learning the title of the movie for the first time in a few days. Maybe there’s a new subtitle. For now, we’re calling it The Amazing Spider-Man 2. That’s what we called it as one of our Most Anticipated Movies of 2014, and we’re intrigued by the proper release of a banner that we only saw previously as as a blurry Twitpic. Here it is done right…

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Banner

Now, the obvious big news is that we have the Green Goblin added to the known Spider-Man 2 villains of the Rhino and Electro. Also, we can now be pretty sure by looking closely that the new Green Goblin–meaning this guy…

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Banner Goblin

…is played by Dane DeHaan. He’s the young actor playing Harry Osborne, so that’s a little weird. Everyone was expected respected actor Chris Cooper to step into the Goblin’s armor as Harry’s father Norman. Yeah, it looks like armor, just like from the Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. But check out this interesting image…

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Banner Goblin Head

Yeah, a lot of people are missing that. We’re thinking that’s Dane–as Harry Osborne–getting his brains fried in some way. That will explain why his hair looks so white as the Green Goblin. So, that’s interesting. Electro looks like what we’ve seen, of course, and The Rhino–well, we still have problems with that…

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Banner Rhino

Seriously, that’s not the Rhino. That’s a guy in a tank, and maybe the tank is called The Rhino, but we’re going to be classic geeks and complain about how we’re not getting a villain that’s a big guy in gray armor who lumbers around and rams people with a horn. That could work in a big-budget movie, right?

Well, if not, then we can only hope that Paul Giamatti–playing the Russian gangster called The Rhino–eventually stumbles out of his tank in some body armor that replicates…well, who are we kidding? It’ll look like body armor instead of a rhino body, and that’s just going to be a drag. Still, we’re all hopeful for the proper trailer being a pleasant surprise. We’ll be waiting just like you–assuming you’re as geeky as us…
