Get Drunk on Peanut Butter Fudge with This Recipe for Peanut Butter Fudge Day
These days, we’ve got a day, week or month for just about everything. In fact, today is Peanut Butter Fudge Day and why shouldn’t it be? If you can think of a reason why it shouldn’t be, chances are you’re just evil or are allergic to fudge, which science has proven creates evil people.
However, you’re an adult and you can enjoy a nice slice of peanut butter fudge whenever you want. You don’t have a nervous parent slapping the fudge out of your hand when you reach for one or telling you it will spoil your appetite. That’s why we found a peanut butter fudge recipe on The Cooking Channel’s website that includes a special ingredient: alcohol.
Halvah is a Middle Eastern dessert that’s basically a peanut butter fudge treat but with the sweet kick of bourbon baked into it. Traditionally, it’s made with a nut butter like a sesame paste called “tahini” but it can also be made with peanut butter and, of course, bourbon. Lots and lots of bourbon.
The recipe recommends using a thinner, organic peanut butter that can be spread more evenly throughout the mix, the kind that has some peanut oil floating on the top. The type of bourbon you use is up to you. Just make sure you buy enough bourbon in case you burn the fudge and still have enough left over to get drunk with after the fire department leaves.
