Almost five decades ago, a beautiful Big Baby Jesus was brought into this world. Russell Tyrone Jones, better known to all of mankind as ‘Ol Dirty Bastard would have been 45 years old today had he not died November 13, 2004 from a drug overdose. A rapper and occasional producer, ODB was a founding member of Staten Island rap group Wu-Tang Clan, an obvious favorite here at COED. So to celebrate ODB’s life and times, we are going through his best moments caught on video. Check them out and let us know which is your favorite.

Crashing the 1998 Grammy Stage

Yo Kanye, I’m really happy for you… Ima let you finish. But ODB was the original awards show stage crasher! The original awards show stage crasher! Before Yeezy, before Taylor, we all remember Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s famous “Wu-Tang is for the children” rant as he crashed the stage before Shawn Colvin could accept her Grammy. He was pretty upset he dropped so many bills on that outfit, suspecting they would win rap album of the year. Instead it went to Puff Daddy, but ODB obviously stole the show.

Picking Up His Welfare Check in a Limo

With his latest album still in the top 10 of U.S. music charts, MTV famously followed ODB when he went to the New York state welfare office to pick up his check. With his 13 children. In a limo. He officially wins life.

Shimmy Shimmy Ya

Oh the 90s, one of our favorite eras for style, supermodels and hip hop. As if Ol’ Dirty Bastards Shimmy Shimmy Ya wasn’t good enough on its own, the video is one of our very favorites. Because who wouldn’t want to be breaking it down with Dirt McGirt?

The ODB Hologram at Rock the Bells

Rock the Bells brought back ODB for a performance with Wu-Tang Clan at this year’s fest. Ol’ Dirty Bastard, live and uncut!
