It’s a bird…It’s a plane…It’s a Swiss guy with a jet pack!
Yves Rossy claims that he flew around Japan’s Mt. Fuji nine times to celebrate its designation as a United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization world heritage site. That might not sound that impressive, but Yves didn’t hire a helicopter to fly him around the mountain several times. He hired a helicopter so he could jump out of it wearing a jet pack that he made called a Jetwing.
Rossy is a pilot for Swiss International Air, and he used to be a pilot in the Swiss Air Force (yep, apparently Switzerland has an Air Force). Rossy’s current Jetwing model cannot take off on its own, so he must jump out of existing aircraft. He also needs a parachute to land, but those limitations hardly make this thing less cool. Any time that you’re flying through the sky with four jet engines on your back, you’re going to have to try pretty hard to not look awesome.
This guy is a total badass. Even if he does sounds kind of funny when he says the word “mosquito.”
