In an interview with NBA TV this week, Kevin Durant stated that he didn’t believe that Dwayne Wade should be included on a list of Top 10 current players and was visibly surprised when he heard the 3-Time Champion’s name rattled off.
Of course, he made room on the list for his boy and ex-teammate James Harden but it seems like Dwayne Wade isn’t too pleased hearing what Kevin Durant said. So last night he took to Instagram and Twitter to post the following note:
It didn’t take long for Durant to respond.
One point to Durant.
Truthfully, it’s a little funny to me to see a comment like Durant’s get under Dwayne Wade’s skin like this. Wade is one of the most wiley veterans in the League (for better or worse, depending on who you root for) and is used to having a target on his back. He knows that he doesn’t have to be the focus of the offense (or even the second option for that matter) to win Championships–the goal of every player. So what gives?
My guess is that it’s because he thinks he deserves more respect at this moment in time than he’s getting from the youngster.
It’s my humble opinion that he doesn’t. The fact of the matter is that James Harden is a better player right now than Dwayne Wade. So is Kyrie Irving. So are a lot of players.
DWade should just be happy that he’s worked hard enough in his life to an important part on one of the best teams in NBA history.
Perhaps when he arrives in the Bahamas for Miami Heat training camp he’ll realize just how lucky he is.
