10 Favorite Fictional Coaches Keeping Us Inspired

Remember those fond memories that you have of tough-but-lovable coaches? Yeah. They’re probably memories of fictional coaches. That’s okay. There’s a reason that the world of entertainment is full of those kinds of characters. Coaches like that aren’t found much in real life. (Take a look at our roundup of infamous coach meltdowns.) The good news is that frees up lots of roles for aging character actors–like James Caan premiering tonight in the new sitcom Back in the Game. He plays a broken-down old baseball player who ends up coaching a youth baseball team.       Pacino would have been more believable if he would have at least tried to dress like a coach. I kept waiting for him to pull out his gun and shoot somebody.
