Lamborghini has been accused by gearheads and car critics of sticking with a tried and true design for its models. Of course, it’s not hard to figure out why. Lamborghini’s sleek, signature look could make guys in comas drool at the thought of being inside something so beautiful. Try not to think too much about that last sentence if you’re at work or near small children.
So when it came time to unleash the Egoista (a name that could not describe Lamborghini drivers better if it was named the Lamborghini S#$*dontstinkio), they decided to chuck that sultry, aerodynamic look that has helped make them such a big name and went in almost a completely opposite direction. By that, I mean they went back in time to the 1980s.
The preliminary designs for their newest concept car were released at the company’s 50th anniversary party in early May as a way to make critics eat their words, which saved a lot of money for the dinner at their anniversary party, according to Automotive News.
It’s an ambitious attempt by Lamborghini to respond to their customers’ criticisms (which usually include their cars don’t make poor people feel bad enough when they drive them) and it’s not a bad design. But for a modern supercar monster, it does look a little too “Megaforce-ian” for my taste. And if you don’t know what “Megaforce” is, then we are no longer on speaking terms.
