Chris Paul may be a top tier player in the NBA but his chances of being on a championship winning team started diminishing since he whined his way out of the New Orleans Hornets and got dumped into the Los Angeles’ Clippers’ collective lap.
We’re not saying CP3’s never going to end up with an NBA Championship ring on his finger, but it’s not going to happen this season. The one award he can stick on his fireplace in 2013, though, comes courtesy of Sports Illustrated‘s blog “Point Forward.” He placed first in the “Floppy” awards, an achievement that celebrates the pursuit of excellence in flagrantly faking fouls and injuries on the court.
Of course, like all great moments in sports, Paul didn’t accomplish this great feat alone. He had some hilarious help from the Sacramento Kings’ DeMarcus Cousins who literally stood by as Paul pretended to crash into him and then flail his arms like a ragdoll on fire as though Marcus had just reached into his chest and pulled out his heart a la “Temple of Doom” style. It’s so over the top and hilarious that the good news is he’s also probably eligible for a Best Actor in a Comedy nod at next year’s Golden Globes.
Clearly Hollywood even has an effect on its athletes.
