10 Actors Who Died Too Young

Today marks the 5th anniversary of Heath Ledger’s death. The Oscar winning actor died in 2008 of “acute intoxication” from a mix of six different drugs — better known by their brand names OxyContin, Vicodin, Valium, Restoril, Xanax and Unisom. He was only 28 years old, and still yet to have received that Academy Award — it came after his death — one of only two actors to ever win a performance Oscar posthumous.

Unfortunately, Heath’s tale is not a new or unique one. The entertainment world regularly loses its greats too young. Musicians, comedians, actors — it seems like they are regularly taken from us too soon, and usually for depressing and senseless reasons like drug overdoses or suicides, planes crashes or auto accidents.

We took a look back at some of Hollywood’s most untimely young deaths and included them in our list below. Take a look and wonder what might have been.
