These Behind The Scenes Photos From ‘The Lord Of The Rings’ Trilogy Are Precious

As you can tell from these behind-the-scenes photos of the Lord Of The Rings trilogy, making the movies must have been a lot of fun. The actors got so close that by the end of filming, 8 of the 9 members of the “Fellowship” got tattoos in elvish that read “nine.”

It’s also interesting to note how little CGI was used for the first three movies, as opposed to The Hobbit. Rumors have it that one of the largest props built for the movie were the Mumak, those massive war elephants. They were only in the movie for about all of five minutes.

But enough background, most of these photos can do with little to no explanation. Except that one of Ian McKellen getting groped — that one might need some ‘splaining.
