Today would be Israeli weapons designer Uziel Gal’s 89 birthday, were he still alive.

In 1951, Gal invented the submachine gun, and in return, the Israeli government named it after him.
Uziel didn’t want the gun to be named the Uzi, and we understand why: he didn’t want to be associated with crazy people. Though he died in 2002, he probably foresaw the likes of Alex Jones using the Uzi to further his right-wing nut job agenda. In the video above, Jones has hired an exceptionally dumb conspiracy theory model to spew his lunacy while firing an Uzi at nothing in particular. Happy birthday, Uziel.
