The holidays can certainly be a trying time for any man. Even a hard-as-nails Navy Seal who knows how to survive the pain of a bullet to the face can be reduced to tears after hearing a distant uncle describe his bowel restructuring while passing the gravy. [Images via Shutterstock]

That’s why the good Lord gave us booze. Unfortunately, the holidays don’t have many manly drinks that go with a traditional Christmas feast. They are an assortment of fruity girl drinks with more blanched ingredients than the menu of an assisted care facility. Finally, someone has brought mankind a real man drink for Christmas: the beer nog.

Food writer Randy Clemens came up with this ingenious recipe that combines the festive creaminess of egg nog and the comforting bite of a Port Brewing Old Viscosity, a beer so manly that it sounds like a motor oil. Clemens got the idea from two of history’s greatest beer aficionados, Bob and Doug Mackenzie aka the “hosers” from SCTV’s “Great White North.” The recipe is available on his website. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m sure as soon as my racist aunt starts spouting her birther theories during dessert, I’ll be racing to the kitchen to whip up a batch so I’ll have something tasty to wash down the painkillers.
