It’s now safe to say that Lionel Messi is the greatest player of all time. On Sunday, December 9th FC Barcelona played Real Betis and won 2-1 with two first half goals coming from Messi, who first tied (85) and then broke (86) Gerd Muller’s 40-year-old record for most goals scored in a calendar year.

Messi still has three games left this year to extend his record. One of them is against Real Madrid and another is the first leg of the Spanish Liga’s playoffs.
