The biggest name in sneakers released the Air Jordan XX8 on Monday to less than enthusiastic enthusiasts. Probably because it actually looks like a wetsuit boot–it has a zip up sleeve that covers the ankle or can be worn folded down, and instead of the iconic red and black ‘Colorway’- it’s black and electric green (maybe to distract from the ugly design).
This super-fail shouldn’t come as a huge suprise though, Nike has a less than perfect record when it comes to Jordans. And if you’ve been caught up in the retro throwbacks, and forgotten about the late 90’s, here’s a little reminder of just how many ugly sneakers Michael Jordan put his name on that you owned as a kid.
If you want to see them in action, Russell Westbrook will debut them in tonight’s game against the Nets, and keep in mind that it’s not about appearance- these shoes are designed for performance. And nothing else.
