Mike likes 70s music.

Wyatt has more modern tastes.

Both of these COED editors think they have what it takes to kick off your Saturday night.

Mike’s Pick

If you’ve read the Keith Richards’ autobiography, Life, in there he tells a story about Ike Turner basically holding him at gunpoint until Richards told him how to get that distinct Rolling Stones open tuning guitar sound. Well, the album Ike & Tina Turner released after that incident was 1970′s Come Together and I’ll be damned if it’s not one of their best albums. Ike shows off his newly acquired open tuning prowess on the album’s first track, “It Ain’t Right,” possibly my favorite Ike & Tina song of all time.

Wyatt’s Pick

There was a time last year where I wasn’t really sold on A$AP Rocky. Of course, when you start laying down tracks like “F*cking Problems” or this newest single, “Lines” with Big Boi, those kinds of doubts can go out the window. The combination of Big Boi’s funky-fresh lyrics, A$AP’s NY swagger, and Phantogram’s electric madness work out quite well.
