Smartphone guitar apps aren’t all Guitar Hero. The good ones mimic the fretboard of a real guitar, meaning you actually have to know how to play guitar to use them. Which would be cool, except that unlike a real guitar, the iPhone doesn’t have frets or strings or any of those things your fingers typically use to play the instrument.
So when this guy rips through the solo to Megadeth’s “Holy War” on an iPod Touch, you got to be impressed. He’s jumping from fret to fret, bending strings with precision. Sh*t, if I was a kid, and my parents wanted me to take guitar lessons, I’d say, “Fine. Buy me an iPhone.”
