An Evening With Lupe Fiasco and The Samsung Galaxy SIII [PHOTOS, RECAP]

Last week COED was lucky enough to receive an invite to an exclusive party featuring hip-hop star Lupe Fiasco and the awesome Samsung Galaxy SIII. The party dubbed as an album release party for Lupe’s new album, Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1, and a celebration of the recent release of the Galaxy SIII phone. The Galaxy SIII’s launch party back in June was insane. Could this one top it?

In one short word…yes. This party was extremely intimate and felt like your own private Lupe Fiasco show. Upon arrival we stepped into the photo booth which used the Galaxy SIII’s Burst Shot technology, taking nearly ten photos in a span of two seconds. It was a great way to kick off the night with Samsung and Lupe…and we got some pretty funny/drunk photos to take home with us.

Before Lupe went on a little before 11:00, we were entertained by DJ Dexter Love along with the Chicago based 8-piece band Verzatile. Both of them, coupled with the endless drinks at the open bar got the party going before Lupe himself came on and killed it.

Playing a variety of songs from his four albums, Lupe got the crowd hyped from the beginning. Playing his hits with a full 8-piece band behind them made the music feel and sound even better. Lupe classics like Daydreamin’ and Superstar were coupled with newer songs, like The Show Goes On to really provide a nice mix of music throughout the night. We even got to hear a few new songs off his recent release, Food & Liquor II: The Great American Rap Album, Pt. 1.

Having been the first time we saw Lupe Fiasco live in concert, this ended up being a night to remember. It was great having the opportunity to see him in such a small, intimate setting. He went on a little before 11:00 p.m., and an hour and a half later, Lupe solidified himself as one of the top rappers in the game today.
