The Battle Between Mark Cuban and Mikhail Prokhorov Begins With Cuban Buying ‘Nets.com’

The NBA finally has a match-up worth watching–but it’s not between two players or even two teams. It’s a battle between owners: Mark Cuban (Mavericks) and Mikhail Prokhorov (Nets). And even though preseason hasn’t really even begun, Mark has seemingly taken the first shot by buying Nets.com and taking a jab at the Russian owner…in Russian… about a Russian prostitute. The NBA is truly where amazing happens. (Note that as of now it’s unconfirmed if Mark actually bought the site or not.)

Most of you probably already know about Mark Cuban even if you pretend not to know anything about the NBA. He’s the loud-mouthed and super-wealthy owner of the Dallas Mavericks who won a championship two years ago. He’s also surprisingly tall.

“Who is Mikhail Prokhorov?” is a totally different story. He’s an absolute cowboy (this is him f*cking around on a Jet Ski) who thinks he can just walk right into the League, buy the crapp*est team with the worst fan base in the NBA, move them to Brooklyn, convince the world that Jay-Z is an owner of the team, and suddenly transform the Nets into a contender.

Oh, he actually succeeded in doing that? Nevermind, then. This could be interesting.
