Ever since her roles in Haywire and The Fast and the Furious 6, Gina Carano has solidified herself as the hottest female action hero today. Therefore it should come as no surprise that she’s already been cast in ‘The Female Expendables,‘ a project that was just green-lit.
After the production company 1984 Private Contractors (The Grey, Killing Them Softly) saw how well The Expendables 2 performed in theaters, they pitched a title called ‘Female Expendables’ and got it green-lit. Gina was the first woman they cast in the movie. In the words of Adi Shankar (owner of 1984 Private Contractors):
I don’t know how I’m supposed to make a movie that is supposed to be the female version of ‘The Expendables’ without Gina Carano in it. It would be like making Twix without caramel or Jamba Juice without jamba.
A few other names jump out to us as non-negotiable inclusions (Ronda Rousey, Michelle Rodriguez, Sigourney Weaver, Milla Jovovich, Rhona Mitra, Lucy Liu, and Jessica Biel) but it’s nice to know they got started on the right foot.
