Zach Galifianakis at the Purple Onion [CLASSIC COMEDY OF THE DAY]

The legendary San Francisco venue, The Purple Onion, shut it’s doors this month. The club was one of the most historic stand up stages in the world; playing host to the likes of Lenny Bruce, Richard Pryor, and Woody Allen. The Smothers Brothers recorded their debut comedy album here. On these hallowed grounds, Zach Galifianakis also recorded his 2006 DVD: Zach Galifianakis Live at the Purple Onion.

Within this intimate venue, Zach hit the mark with one of his best recorded routines; tinkering at the piano while swilling pints of beer: spouting out such great punchlines as, “I don’t have to f*ck a cracker, do I?” (According to Zach, that punchline would be different if he were a black comedian.)

Check out the classic routine from a man who, likes to read the Bible in public places and murmur to myself, ‘Oh bullsh*t.’”
